Likes: Simple language, split into interesting categories, good reminder of some topics such as Carol Dweck’s mindset concept. It’s a really easy read - it’s over 250 pages but actually there’s a huge amount of white space, the font is relatively large and you could easily read it in a day or two. With the utmost respect, to even see the people who reviewed this take it literally and stop reading his book because of it made me feel like they may have missed the point. ISBN: 9780008467029 Author: Smith, James Publisher: HarperCollinsPublishers Publication Date: 2nd September 2021 Imprint: HarperCollinsPublishers Cover: Paperback Dewey: 158. With hard-hitting home truths and a helping of tough love, be prepared to reset your outlook, redefine your goals and unlock your potential.

This book would have been better titled “Not a Life Coach - Ramblings of a Privileged Middleclass White Man” I am astonished this book got as far as being published. Instead you are getting a crass account of the life of someone living in dreamland on the other side of the world, who has cashed in on the vanity trend of Instagram and travelling. It was finished within a couple days and I love what he has to say as far as making a life for oneself vs making a living. This book is useful as an accessible version of the material it references for those who can’t be bothered to read the underlying sources.By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file. Just that "Don't compare yourself to others" "Know your values, what you want and what you don't want" He shares a lot of his own life-experiences and interests as well, making it come across like part memoir, part self-help too. Possibly a good gateway personal development book for someone who doesn't read non fiction but I felt there was nothing new or noted information or even memorable stories.

It felt a bit self-centered a lot of the time, but I understand his point, just not something that I found particularly useful.Found a few interesting ideas such as James' philosophy on social media use but the majority of this book can be summarized as poor regurgitation of original personal development bestsellers such as "4-hour workweek", "Atomic Habits", "The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck" etc.

Time to stop sleep-walking through your life, to challenge the status quo and to truly ask yourself if you’re on the right path to success, happiness and fulfilment. Giving it a very generous 2/5 stars here when really it only deserves a one, subjectively speaking of course, objectively I would say this book is good for those who aren't self-aware enough to understand themselves and their own values. This book was recommended by a sober group I am a member of, probably because the author is into health and fitness, and understands the psychology of behaviour and behaviour change. Now this, Not A Life Coach, at a time when pondering significant changes in my life, perfectly guiding my thoughts to what matter to ME, not anyone else. I didn't find this book anywhere near as good as his first book, and I think that is probably because it is abundantly clear that he is not at an accomplished level of most of the topics of the book.Time to stop sleep-walking through your life; to challenge the status quo; and to truly ask yourself if you're on the right path to success, happiness and fulfilment. The book is part self development, part stories about James’s own development and part him adding definitions to words or phrases.
