Had I made the box, sanded it and then handed it over to one of you chaps to finish I suspect it would look infinitely better than it does now! On the other hand, if you completely nailed the process and you are happy with your results, I would also be happy to hear back from you with some photos and comments! For best results, apply premium Danish oil in thin coats, leaving enough time between coats to ensure it is completely dry. It is true that danish oil can cause delamination because it penetrates deep into the door hits the glue and causes the delamination.

I had to dilute the first coat with white spirit (a bit like a mist coat with paint) , then two coats full strength.Danish Oil can be used on almost any wooden surface, including interior and exterior furniture, doors, window frames, cladding, hardwood floors, skirting boards, gates, children’s play areas, kitchen worktops, turned wood, musical instruments and food preparation areas etc. Because of the mix of ingredients, Danish oil is slightly more durable than Tung oil and is also easier to apply. I have used oil based poly on red oak stained with Danish oil that has sat for only 2-3 days and it turned out quite nice. Wait about 5 minutes for the oil to soak into the wood, then wipe off any excess oil with a clean, lint-free cloth. Furniture Clinic Danish Oil is completely safe and highly effective when used on all types of wood, including Oak, Beach and Walnut.

The biggest advantage of Danish Oil is that it is a natural product with the ideal viscosity to be absorbed by the pores of the timber and hence why it needs to be applied thinly. F (7-16°C) is at the low end of viable temps for finishing* so more time should definitely be allocated. Our premium cleaning and restoration products meet the highest professional demands yet are packaged and designed to remain easy-to-use for everyone. The first coat will quickly soak into the wood, leave it for a few minutes and then wipe away any excess. Furthermore, it doesn't offer UV protection, so the wood could deteriorate over time if it is exposed to sunlight.
